Lead Database Administrator
Primary Focus: MS SQL, AzureSQL and Snowflake
Introduction:
The Lead DBA is responsible for leading the team that administers the databases. Provides expert-level support for MSQL, AzureSQL and Snowflake database builds, backups, recovery, patching, upgrades and access management. The Lead DBA works closely with Data Integration and Data Governance Technical Architects and other project personnel during the Architect, Build, and Deploy phases of projects
As a Lead, this role is responsible for overall delivery and thought leadership for the account.
Requirements
- 5+ Years Database Administration Experience (MSSQL or AzureSQL and Snowflake)
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Prior service management experience
- Team leadership experience
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence in thought leadership
- Ability to dig into the details to find solutions to problems.
Responsibilities
- Primary client point of contact for technical delivery of all database administration work.
- Primary client point of contact related to database administration thought leadership.
- Leadership of the DBA Team including:
- Monitoring work at a detailed level
- Coaching and mentoring the team
- Resolving staffing challenges
- Ensuring coverage 24/7
- Delivering metrics to demonstrate successful delivery of in scope work.
- On Call Support for the team.
- SQL Tuning
- Perform log reviews and health checks.
- Proactively bringing new ideas and value-added solution approaches forward, including how to maximize cloud value.
- Knowledge of IT concepts such as DB design, layout structures, stored procedures, tables, optimizations, TCP/IP, IT security concepts (role based access)
Team responsibilities
- Support application development projects by leading in the creation of standards and procedures related to database management systems.
- Troubleshoot database problems and implement corrective measures as required.
- All Level 1 & Level 2 Support
- Creates and promotes new tables.
- Grants Database access.
- Troubleshoot problems with development teams.
- Develops and tests Disaster recovery and failover strategies.
- Tests and implements new technical solutions
- Assist on Capacity planning as required.
- Maintaining the standards such as development standards, maintenance standards etc.
